DC Electronic Loads
DC electronic loads accurately simulate the loading of a circuit. Each unit implements sink waveforms which are programmable for voltage, current and power.
When compared to a traditional resistive load bank, a programmable electronic load offers much greater functionality. Sink values of selected models can be adjusted in small increments into the milliamp range, under a variety of waveforms. Whereas, a resistive load bank typically has much less control. Traditional systems do not have the programmability necessary to recreate the complex load steps of real world applications.
Due to variance in user behaviour, the operating waveforms of DC devices can often have many irregular qualities. For example, when testing a discharging xEV battery pack, a cautious driver will create a vastly different waveform than an aggressive driver that accelerates fast and brakes hard. Our DC loads allow the complex loading of an electrical circuit to be precisely simulated.
Common operating features throughout the rental range include OVP/OCP tests, front panel memory as well as CC, CV, CR and CP modes. Rise, fall and plateau times are adjustable in dynamic mode. Grid-tied power recycling loads are available with an embedded function generator, which can create almost any complex DC waveform.
Our rental systems are commonly used for discharging batteries, fuel cell loading, product burn-in trials and testing DC power supplies. Application specific GUIs are available for the LAB-GSS, which allow the DC load to accurately simulate battery pack and capacitor characteristics when testing chargers.

With the ability to sink or source DC power up to 2000V, the G5-RSS is ideal for cycling and emulating energy storage devices. Modules are stackable to 216kW. Ethernet, USB and analogue interfaces are provided with every module for remote control. A high speed 1kHz CAN interface is installed on selected modules.

Each load can operate in nine different modes: CC, CV, CR, CP, CV+CC, CV+CP, MPPT, dynamic and short mode. Dual setting and measurement ranges are provided. A 150-state memory is accessible via the front panel for quick initialisation and limit-setting.

This load module features both DC and AC sink functions up to 20A/300V. A dual 4½ digit display clearly shows the voltage and current values at the load terminals. Front panel memory with auto sequencing function is provided for quick test implementation.

ELP-3330 load modules offer two independently adjustable channels. Each channel has CC, CR, CV & CP operating modes and a short test function. Adjustable overcurrent and overpower protection test modes are also provided for testing PSU limits.
