Rugged DC Power Supplies
Sourcing reliable DC power supplies for mission critical equipment can be a constant battle. ETPS have a long history of providing ruggedised solutions to meet harsh environmental requirements.
Many vehicles and ships are regularly exposed to shock, vibration and humidity which a typical laboratory power supply is not designed to handle. Every day our heavy-duty systems are trusted to power electrical equipment for surface boats, military vehicles, submarines, downhole tools and many more critical applications.
Product families such as the RUG-HP-E are well proven in the field. Mechanical features of the unit protect against shock, vibration and condensing moisture. Each unit features a programmable voltage and current output. The small footprint and highly competitive cost per kW make them a popular choice for many users.
For applications which are likely to experience extreme levels of shock and vibration, the RUG-TC is the ideal choice. The DC source has been tested to withstand up to 20g of mechanical shock across X, Y and Z axes. The system’s wide input range allows it to operate from an AC generator. An operating temperature as low as -10°C all the way up to 55°C is possible.
Where low reflected current harmonics are imperative, the RUG-GSX features typical values of <1% at nominal load. Typical applications include providing the DC energy to the coils powering ship sonar systems. The power supply has an inbuilt active power correction of ≥0.99. This allows for smaller components and cabling throughout the relevant circuit, perfect for when space is at a premium.

Each RUG-TC DC source is able to withstand up to 20g of mechanical shock across X, Y and Z axes allowing it to operate across rugged terrains. Low level protocols (LLP) gives access to the most commonly used hexadecimal memory addresses for given functions.

Each modular RUG-GSX features low reflected current harmonics and has an inbuilt active power correction of ≥0.99. The excellent PFC allows for smaller components and cabling to be used throughout the vehicle or vessel. Ideal When space is at a premium.

Each RUG-HP-E operates in constant current or constant voltage mode. The unit's PCBs are coated to provide a high resistance to condensing salt moisture. The power supplies are incredibly power dense, with up to 21kW of power in just a 3U high case.
