The EAC-S is a linear AC power source with a single phase output of up to 500VA. Voltage, current and frequency limits are user programmable, with operation from 500Hz all the way down to DC level possible.
Standard sine, triangular and square waves can be selected. A DC offset can be combined with the AC voltage, ensuring that almost any waveform can be created. Front panel control is provided as well as a selection of computer interfaces. An SD memory card slot allows users to create custom waveforms using simple WAV or script files via a PC.

Operating Ranges and Features
The user can preset the starting phase angle when the output is activated. The AC Source is loaded with a waveform for pre-compliance testing to the volts and interrupts standard EN 61000-4-11. Users can also create their own waveforms and load them into the unit via an SD card.
A host of measurement functions are available including true, apparent and reactive power along with average, effective and peak values for both voltage and current. The power factor and crest factor values are also displayed.
Interfaces and Control
All power supply functions can be controlled via the front panel, as well as by RS-232, RS485, CAN, USB and LAN interfaces. An SD card memory function allows users to create their own waveforms and load them into the unit.
Form Factor and Enclosures
The unit is shipped in flight cases which make deployment of the power system simpler, quicker and safer.
As most households are based on a single phase supply, it is important that domestic appliances are tested under these conditions. The programmability of the EAC-S allows almost any domestic condition to be recreated. Real world load balancing grid processes, such as ripple control, can be superimposed onto existing waveforms.
An EAC-S system was used by Durham University for the characterisation of magnetic devices. The AC source allowed them to validate and understand the limitations of their numerical models, while ensuring confidence in a specific device design.
Another ETPS AC power supply was used by Loughborough University's Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST) was used in a research trial to identify whether the National Grid would have to maintain their obligated 1% frequency tolerance, or if this tolerance is now outdated.
