Custom units are ideal for high end complex projects, helping you research and explore new and unproven areas of technology. We can often design a system to match your exact test specifications using one of our standard AC or DC products as a basis. Technology power platforms such as linear, switch mode and motor driven can all be modified on request.

High value projects often involve difficult engineering challenges, which is why our team uses a hands-on approach to provide specialist knowledge and technical support along the way. Working alongside you, your customers and manufacturing partners, we can overcome design challenges to create a completely bespoke unit.

Our team's access to magnetic, metal and PCB fabrications along with EMI, EMC and temperature test facilities mean we can take care of any changes in specification fast. CAD and simulation software means you can visualise your system before we create it.

If your unit will be used in harsh environments, we can modify the electrical and mechanical components to protect them from conditions such as shock, vibration and humidity. That way, we ensure every system is compliant with even the most stringent standards, such as NATO's STANAG. We can even build your system into a wheeled flight case so it can be easily and quickly moved around the site.

  • Charger with Discharge Unit

    A mobile battery charge/discharge power system was created for an international motorsport series. The unit operates from a wide AC generator input, to ensure charging is always possible. A special heat dissipative discharge section allows batteries to be transported at a safe capacity.

  • Ruggedised DC Power Supplies

    A vehicle mounted DC source, powered from an AC generator, was developed to power on-board transmitters for military vehicles. Modifications to the unit allow it to withstand up to 30g of shock across X, Y and Z axes. The system operates from -10°C up to 55°C.

  • DC PSU with Down Programmer

    To meet stringent test standards, a luxury car manufacturer wanted to implement voltage drops from 13.8V to 4.2V in less than 600µs. A special capacitive resistive box was engineered for a DC power supply, which actively pulls down the voltage in the required time.

  • AC Circuit Breaker Tester

    High current/high voltage AC sources were designed specifically for circuit breaker testing. The PSUs provide three phase output currents in nine programmable steps, from 700mA up to 2000A. Voltage outputs up to 700V are also possible.

  • Ruggedised Vehicle Inverter

    Rugged AC-DC inverters were developed to power ancillary vehicle equipment. Each inverter provides a 1kVA pure sinewave output continuously, though usefully has a high peak capability for an extended period of time (1.45kVA for 30mins, 1.5kVA for up to 10 mins).

  • Linear Post Processor Unit

    A special linear post processing unit was created for use with the LAB-TC, for advanced testing of the MPPT of solar inverters. The device improves accuracy and performance, which is particularly useful when researching application area processing (AAP) functionality.
